Operating principle

A certificate is a record, not a document.

Every issued BSA certificate is bound to a sample, a recorded assay, a named assayer, a quality-control reviewer and a certifying officer. Its canonical data is hashed with SHA-256 at the moment of issuance and signed server-side. The printed document and PDF are representations of that record; the verification portal is the authoritative source of status. BSA does not claim that any printed document is impossible to forge — it makes forgery detectable.
